On Saturday we held our first Bayside Beer Belt Craft Beer Tour for 2022 and it was a ripper!
We started the day with a visit to Stomping Ground in Moorabbin with expert host and cicerone Nick, guiding our group through four of their finest, including the ‘Laneway Lager’, ‘Gipps St’ Pale Ale, ‘Hop Stomper’ IPA and the ‘Watermelon Smash’. This was our first visit to Stomping Ground’s newest brewery and we loved it!
We then travelled across to Bojak Brewing in Dandenong where yet another Nick gave the crew a tour of their brewing facilities and where they also enjoyed their first tasting, the ‘Easy Times’ Lager. Once the group moved inside, they then got to experience the ‘Guava Nice Day’ Kettle Sour, the ‘Calypso’ Hazy IPA and a new one for a lot of them, the ‘Cartel’ Coffee Porter. This was another first time visit to Bojak and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
From there we stopped by Banks Brewing in Seaford where the group got to sit in the beautiful sunshine in the courtyard while enjoying their Banks experience. They were treated to the ‘All Time’ Pale Ale, ‘Foam’ German Pilsner, ‘Alright’ Hazy Pale Ale and the ‘Westcoast’ IPA. Our host Ollie shared some interesting stories with us while we were there and kept the group entertained. Again, it was a first time visit to Banks Brewery and we had a happy crew walking out!
Our last stop for the day was Wolf of the Willows in Mordialloc where the always lovely Bec took the group and spoilt them with choice and decided to go off script from their usual tastings and do something different! Those that chose the beer option enjoyed tasting their XPA (of course), ‘Full Moon Party’ Mango Pale Ale (very appropriate), ‘Woodsman’ Amber Ale and the ‘Pacific Sour’. Those that went the Hard Seltzer path tried the Aqua Boogie Pineapple Mango, Ginger Lime and the Natural Cola.
Along the way we had beer trivia, brewery questions to see who was paying attention, played some Rock Paper Scissors, a game of beer pong, lots of creative images taken and in the end, mates Chris, John and Matt were crowned the Winners of the Tour.
A big thanks as always to Colin and David from Southern Star Tours for ensuring our guests travelled in style!
Looking forward to our next tour on Sunday 20 March!
