At The Mordi Canteen, we believe that great food and vibrant art are essential to bringing people together, which is why our cafe is more than just a place to grab a bite – it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and sustainability. Nestled in the heart of Mordialloc, The Mordi Canteen has become a cherished meeting place for locals and visitors alike, offering not only delicious food but also a platform for artistic expression and com munity engagement.
Food that Speaks to the Heart
Our menu is crafted with care, and designed to offer a variety of options that cater to all tastes and preferences. Whether you’re popping in for breakfast, brunch, or just a quick coffee, we pride ourselves on serving wholesome and creatively presented food. Each dish is a work of art, thoughtfully prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. We’re always exploring new ways to innovate our menu, keeping sustainability in mind, as seen in our initiative that encourages the use of Keep Cups and Bio Cups to reduce single-use plastic waste.
Art on the Walls & Art on the Plates
We’ve always believed that food and art go hand-in-hand. At The Mordi Canteen, we feature a new local artist monthly as part of our #ArtistOfTheMonth initiative. These talented artists bring our walls to life with their unique works, creating an ever-changing gallery that enriches the cafe atmosphere. By featuring local talent, we not only support emerging artists but also invite our patrons to experience the fusion of food, art, and culture in a warm, welcoming setting.
Supporting the Kingston Community
Our commitment to the community extends beyond art and food. We actively collaborate with local initiatives, councils, and events to make Mordialloc a better place for everyone. We’ve also been nominated for awards in both Waste Reduction & Recycling Solutions and Small Business Leadership in the Kingston Business Sustainability Awards 2024, a testament to our dedication to sustainable business practices and leadership in the local community.
In addition, we recently launched special meeting spaces for local businesses and entrepreneurs to host breakfast/brunch meetings. With seating for approx. 50 people, a customized tea menu, and dietary options, it’s the perfect way to fuel creativity and collaboration while supporting local businesses.
