“Wouldn’t it be great if there was an online resource that listed all of the local businesses and local events happening in our community?”
This was the thought that started the Kingston Collective on the journey to create and build that online resource. There were also contributing factors that lead to that thought process. Every Thursday I would create a post for our Instagram and Facebook Group that highlighted the local events happening that weekend to help promote the events and also provide options for local people to do with their family and friends. Whilst this was good in theory, trying to find local events happening and compiling the information took me approximately an hour to an hour and a half every Thursday. This was very time consuming and frustrating. I had to look on several websites and instagram pages to find things that people would be interested in attending.
So having an online tool that allowed people to look in one simple location to find all of the community events happening would not only be useful for our local community, but also for us in trying to promote our community events.
In regards to the business listings, whilst you can search for businesses using google and leave reviews and recommendations, unless you pay for Adwords, google isn’t working for you, we are! Liza, co-owner of the Kingston Collective is a wizz when it comes to online marketing and driving traffic to a website. We aim to drive traffic to the site to ensure business exposure by focusing on onsite and offsite SEO, pragmatic social advertising, retargeting, search advertising and more. (that’s us in the backend!)
Local residents and customers will be encouraged to leave reviews for our members (listed businesses) on specific business listings which is a great way of showing local support.
In creating this online tool, we wanted to build something that was of benefit to the community, showing and giving support to local businesses and strengthening the great community in which we live and love.
We hope to build our business and support our community based on our below mottos.
Live Local. Buy Local. Be Local.
COMMUNITY. CONNECT. COLLABORATE.
