Business Workshop Series #1 – Marketing
Learning from the gurus!
As a small business owner, it is so hard to cover everything you need to know to run a business. We all start out because we have a love for a particular ’thing’ and from there, we need to learn all of the other areas that go with it, and by far, marketing is one of the hardest to get your head around.
On Tuesday 21 June 2022, we kicked off our Business Workshop series, focussing on Marketing – identifying our customers, knowing where to find them, how to speak to them and SO MUCH MORE. The session was run by marketing gurus Liza and Leslie from WCM Digital. These ladies live and breath marketing daily for so many businesses both local, interstate and overseas. They have a world of knowledge when it comes to identifying, attracting, speaking to and converting customers (as well as so many other areas).
We spoke about so many things but the main takeaways were… Identify – WHO you are speaking to, WHAT is the transformation you are offering (solution), WHAT is the emotional why, WHAT are the rational reasons (benefits) and WHY not (objections & responses). Once we drill down on those questions for each audience type, we can start to create our messages. Other great words of wisdom were – Don’t give up on Ads, Content is King, Partnerships are the key to a small business growth and Be EVERYWHERE – test everything and KEEP TRYING!
Our group could have spoken on this topic for a full day and then some but we crammed it into a short workshop with many actionable take homes. The other thing that was so great about this session was that everyone was happy to share ideas with each other, give advice and of course, ask questions. Often we are all in the same boat and it is great to know that other business owners are feeling and experiencing the same things, thoughts and emotions.
Our session was held at the gorgeous The Bayside Wedding Collective in Braeside. This venue is so versatile and it was the perfect space for us. I look forward to holding another event there soon.
The DELICIOUS morning tea was supplied by the lovely Melina at Regnier Cakes which included a fun tea experience with Bloom teas – they are pretty cool – look them up.
All in all, a fabulous morning and a great start to our Business Workshop Series. Our next one is scheduled for September with the fun loving Jessica Roberts from The Who Photography & Design. at Babyeggs Cafe in Moorabbin.
